RoomMates Decor Wall Decals Review & Giveaway!

Summer is coming to a close, but it's still very hot outside! Stay cool and keep Summer Sweeping with this Giveaway Hop, hosted by the Blogging Mamas Network!

Each blogger linking up has a Giveaway for you worth at least $25, so be sure to hop around to them all!

When you rent (and even when you own your home), figuring out ways to decorate can be a challenge. If you're anything like me, you get tired of decor way to quickly and are ready for a change. Luckily, RoomMates Decor offers affordable peek and stick decor that's perfect to change up your home at any time!

*I received complimentary wall decals for review in exchange for my honest thoughts and opinions*

Back in 2006, the largest (and oldest) wallpaper manufacturer in North America, York Wallcoverings, decided to branch out into the wall decal market. They created RoomMates Decor in hopes of making affordable wall decals that everyone would love!

RoomMates Decor was generous enough to let me choose what I wanted to review and I was so excited to see that they had Mickey Mouse decals! Baby A will be two in just a few short weeks (how did that happen?!?!) and we are redoing his bedroom to be Mickey Mouse! Needless to say that I was excited to team up with RoomMates Decor was an understatement.

I decided to go with the Mickey Mouse Giant Wall Decal with Augmented Reality and the Mickey Mouse Chalkboard Wall Decal. I was particularly excited about the giant Mickey decal, I knew Baby A would love it!

When I took out the giant Mickey decal I was shocked to see how big it was. Yes I know, it said GIANT Mickey but I wasn't expecting it to literally be giant. Taking the big Mickey off of the sheet it is on turned out to be a lot more difficult than I expected due to its size. I would highly recommend recruiting your husband (or wife) or another family member to help you! It took me about 30 minutes because I kept getting pieces of the Mickey Mouse stuck on itself and I'd have to stop and carefully pull it apart and try my hardest not to bend it or rip it! I also had a struggle with placement on the wall, where I originally had it, I was to close to the doorframe and almost cut off Mickey's hand! I was very impressed with how easily the decal came off of the wall and I especially loved that the decal didn't loose any adhesive after removing and re-adhering a few times. When I finally had it exactly where I wanted it, the decal went back on easily and smoothly!

The Mickey Mouse Chalkboard Wall Decals are just as adorable as the giant Mickey is and included one large chalk board Mickey head and a bunch of small Mickey heads! I absolutely loved the chalk board and knew that it would be so much fun to write special messages to Baby A!

When I had all of the decals on Baby A's walls I was so excited and I couldn't wait for him to see all of the new Mickeys! Every wall had at least two Mickey Mouse's on it and I loved the amount of color that it added to the room!

What I was the most excited about is Baby A seeing the Giant Mickey Mouse for the first time! He absolutely adores Mickey so I knew he would be just as excited as I would be. When Baby A first walked into his room he surprisingly didn't notice that it was there, but when I said "hey boogie, wheres the big Mickey?", he turned and saw it and his eyes lit up. He walked right over to it and looked big Mickey straight in the eye, then started patting Mickey's face.

I absolutely love the wall decals from RoomMates Decor and I recommend them to anyone who wants to add something extra to their boring white walls! Every time I step into Baby A's room I instantly want to go to Disneyland! It makes me so happy to see how much Baby A loves the Giant Mickey Mouse Decal and I am so impressed with the quality of the decal itself. Pick up your wall decals from RoomMates Decor or stick around to enter to win a $40 Gift Certificate!!

To Purchase: Visit RoomMates Decor and choose the wall decals that will look the best in your home!

Nuby's Insulated Soft Sipper

Hey guys! I know it's been a while since I reviewed anything from Nuby USA and I am excited to tell you that I have some new things to share with you!!

If you've been a fan of MCO for a while you'll remember that I am sort of a sippy cup addict. I love buying Baby A sippy cups and even though he insists on using my water bottles instead, I still get giddy when we receive (or I purchase) a new sippy.

I requested to review the Nuby Insulated Soft Sipper because it looked like an all around great sippy cup and I absolutely loved the cute little design on the front. Yes, I will shamelessly admit that I chose a sippy cup based off of what it looked like. When it arrived, I loved it!

The Insulated Soft Sipper is perfect for teething little ones and even features a uniquely designed flip top cap to keep the spout clean while it is not in use. The sippy cup is insulated so it will not "sweat" all over your furniture, bag, or the car! Another great thing about the Insulated Soft Sipper is that you can control the speed of the liquid by reversing the control valve!

Baby A and I absolutely love the Nuby Insulated Soft Sipper

All About Bras

Ok ladies; let's talk a little about bras and the proper fit.

From the beginning of my bra days, I have NEVER liked wearing a bra.  They have always been uncomfortable with a capital U, hurt at times, and have just been plain weird.  I always had to adjust my bra throughout the day and the underwire was always digging into my ribs.  When I was younger, my bra spent more time in my purse then on me, I would never wear it more than a couple of hours.  Then as I got older, the bra was the first thing to come off when I walked in the house, if it even made it that far, many times I took it off in the car and my way home.

I finally decided to sit down and do some research about bras.  In my research I found that, like me, most women wear the wrong bra size.  Most women are currently using bra sizing that dates back to the 1930s, when bras were in their infancy.  Back then, material wasn't stretchy so you would measure the ribcage and then add 4 or 5 inches to get the band size.  4 inches if the ribcage is an even number, 5 inches if the ribcage is an odd number (a 31 and 32in ribcage would wear a band size of 36)  Over the years, many things have changed, including the way bras are made and the materials that are used.  Modern bra material is stretchy and inches should not be added when figuring out what bra size to get.  If your ribcage measures 32 inches, the proper band size is 32.  90% of the support should come from the band and 10% from the straps.  When the band is too big, then the "girls" will not be properly supported.  Many women with larger breasts have "back" problems.  This is caused by the woman giving in to the weight of her breasts, they are heavy so she leans forward, in the process she hunches her back, and voila, here comes the back pain.  If the band fits properly, you won't have any "weight" from your breasts.  As with most articles of clothing, every brand is made different and will fit different.  When choosing a bra, always try them on, even if it's the same bra that you have worn before.  Even a 5lb weight difference will cause a bra to fit differently.

Ladies, you can measure yourself, by measuring snug around your ribcage to get the band size.  Then measure the fullest part of your bust loosely to get the cup size.  Each inch of difference between the ribcage and the bust is a cup size.  A ribcage that is 32 inches with a bust of 36 inches would have a bra size of 32D.  When you are trying on bras, start with your measurements and make adjustments according to the bra.  Some bands run smaller, so you will need to buy the next band size up.  The band should be snug on the first notch, so that you will have room for adjustment, when the material stretches.  After a few weeks the band will stretch out and you can move it to the middle, then eventually the last notch.  You will get more use out of the bra, than when a bra is bought and is worn on the last notch from the beginning.

The back of the band should sit under your shoulder blades and the gore (middle front) should lay flat against your chest, the gore should not be raised or gap.  When you have the bra on and move your body or raise your hands, the band should stay in place.  When fitting the cup, it should lay nicely across your breast.  The cup should not cut into your breast; you shouldn't look as if you have 4 boobs.  There should not be a gap between your breast and the cup.  When you bend over, the bra should not gap and your breast should not fall out of the cup.

Here are a few ways to easily know if your band is too big:

  • The band rides up in the back and you always have to pull it down,
  • The underwire digs into your ribcage,
  • The gore isn't flesh to your chest,
  • The cups gap from the strap to the gore or along your underarm,
  • And last but not least, the band slides when you move. Many times, the straps are tightened more than they should be, causing the back to rise, which causes the underwire to dig into the ribcage.

After I spent a lot of time doing this research and measuring myself, I decided that it was time to go find a bra.  I went to Victoria's secret, JC Penney, and Fredericks of Hollywood, they all measured me the same way, which isn't the right way.  At Fredericks, the lady tried to put me into the wrong band size and then tried to convince me that it was a proper fit.  I explained to her why it didn't fit right, handed her back her bra, Said "thank you for your time, but I will shop elsewhere" then I turned to leave, this is when the lady said "you really know your stuff" I turned back to her and said "excuse me" she said "you know what you're talking about, most women won't wear the proper size bra because they say that it's too tight"

I did a lot of searching and finally found a specialty bra shop and this is where I discovered "European" brands and I fell in love.  I also fell in love with the service that I received from these specialty shops.  There isn't a bra shop in the city that I live in, so I have to drive a couple of hours to find specialty shops.  I do have to say that the drive is well worth it.  I found a store called Intimacy and I absolutely love this store, it's like being in bra heaven.  In my research for a comfortable bra that actually fits, I found that European brands have much prettier bras, especially in larger sizes.  I would get so frustrated, because I always had to buy a nude color bra, because larger bras don't come in pretty colors.  European bras also have wider cups, which is really great for someone who has breast implants and a lot of "side boob" My 2 favorite European bras are from the brands Freya and Fauve.

If you do shop at Victoria's Secret, Fredericks, or any other store, you can find the proper size.  Just know your "stuff" and don't let them convince you otherwise.  They are just going by what they've been taught.

And Ladies, do not let them convince you that it's ok to go up a band size and down a cup size, in order to get a certain bra.  This is not ok; it defeats the purpose of finding a proper fitting bra.

I'm so happy that I finally found some proper fitting bras.  These proper fitting bras are so comfortable.  I never have to adjust them after I put them on and sometimes I don't even feel like I'm wearing a bra.  One more little tip before I go: Sports bras with compression are not healthy for natural breast tissue, or breast implants.  If you're going to wear a sports bra, they make non-compression sports bras.

Have a great day and happy bra hunting!!!

Masha Review & Giveaway

Moms are often in the kitchen preparing meals and baby food. One thing I absolutely hate to do is mash potatoes, it's a pain to do and my potato's always seem to be a little lumpy! Thankfully, there is an awesome new product on the market that is revolutionizing the way that we mash our food! I''m excited to introduce you to the Masha!

*I received a complimentary Masha for review in exchange for my honest thoughts and opinions*

The Masha is a product that I had never heard of before, but when I discovered it I was instantly intrigued. One thing I hate to do is mash things up and if there was an appliance that would make that job just a little bit easier, it was worth owning! The Masha is perfect for potatoes, vegetables, baby food, guacamole, cake mixes, pastries, and many other things!

When the Masha arrived I was impressed on how compact it was, yet it was still large enough where you wouldn't get your hand dirty if something was to splash up at you. The Masha requires an electrical outlet to work (rather than batteries) which is not a problem for me since I seem to have a million outlets in my kitchen, and honestly, who wants to buy extra batteries for an appliance? Not me, and probably not you either!

So now that you've seen the Masha and can see how awesome it looks, you may be scratching your head wondering how the Masha works. The Masha is equipped with a patented ROTOR-CONE technology that forces the object being mashed into the outer mesh of the Masha, which produces a perfect mash within seconds. The "Mashing Blade" as I have nicknamed it, is a smooth plastic that helps remove lumps from your food, and is a breeze to clean as well!

The Masha is easy to hold with a comfortable rubberized grip that you hold while you are mashing your food. At the top of the grip there is a button that you press and hold while you're mashing up the food The Masha only mashes at one speed which I personally think is great because it insures  that you will not use a speed that is to high and get food all over your kitchen (which is something that I would most likely do!).

For my first time using the Masha I decided to test it out with a sweet potato. I baked it as I normally would and then transferred it from it's tin foil into my pyrex bowl. I then plugged in the Masha, sat the mashing blade on top of the sweet potato, and pressed the button! I found that you do need to press the Masha lightly onto the food item you are mashing, and once you do the Masha does the rest! In less than twenty seconds my entire sweet potato was mashed to the perfect consistency and ready to be devoured.

When it was time to clean the Masha I simply squeezed in on the release buttons and pulled out the bottom section of the Masha. Using my scrubby brush I was able to get all of the sweet potato out of the meshing easily and get the blade clean with no hassle. I let it air dry on the counter until I was ready to put it away. The bottom portion of the Masha is also dishwasher safe, so if you would prefer to stick it in the dishwasher that is an option as well.

Overall I really love the Masha and I know I will be using it every time we eat something that will require mashing! It's going to be an absolute treat during the holidays when the last thing I want to do is deal with mashed potatoes and it will be so helpful when baby #2 comes around one day and I'm making puree's again!

I highly recommend that you pick up a Masha for yourself and make your job in the kitchen a little simpler! You can snag yours while they're on sale for just $39.95, or you could enter to WIN one!!
